Pumpkins Pumpkins Pumpkins!

This past week at the farmer’s market, we saw our very first pumpkin of the season! We can’t wait to use pumpkins (and their cousin, the squash) in all our decorations and recipes for the next couple of months. Here are a few ideas to induce your pumpkin frenzy!

  • Pumpkin Chocolate Chunk bars: Yes, they do exist. You can buy a batch on etsy.com, here; http://www.etsy.com/listing/56588398/pumpkin-chocolate-chunk-bars.
  • When carving that pumpkin, save the seeds! Rinse the seeds, throw them on a baking sheet, add your favorite spices and bake at 350 until golden brown. For a sweet tooth, dry drizzling melted butter with cinnamon and nutmeg, or for a savory snack, try olive oil, rosemary and sea salt.
  • Arts and Crafts; Head on over to http://www.etsy.com/listing/56583641/ to download the perfect vintage inspired pumpkin print. Use it for scrap-booking or grab some burlap sacks and make the perfect trick-or-treat bag.
  • We just couldn’t resist this Halloween costume; http://www.etsy.com/listing/56586544/.  There is even a matching diaper cover!
  • Pumpkin bread: This claims to be the ‘ultimate recipe’ for pumpkin bread, http://blog.streaminggourmet.com/?p=1286 , and when reading it over, we are believers. Using real butter is so rare these days when whole wheat flour is the go-to ingredient, that we rejoiced when this recipe seems to revolve around the essential fatty goodness.
